Cool hail pic. Glad to hear you were alright. I missed all the "excitement" here in Atlanta as I was en route to NOLA, driving in hard fog late into the night. On my trip I discovered that with email and twitter on my phone (ATT 8525), I could have left my laptop at home.

I'm glad you're ok Dave. Looks like lots of damages around your neighborhood but you're a lucky one. Thanks for sharing a story and good tips.

It is also important to keep your house clean because if your power does hold out, everyone might be coming over.

No power sucks. But you're right, Twitter was amazing on friday and saturday. Much better than the news.
Feel free to read my tornado experience http://jenniferteeter.com/?p=21

Glad you are okay, Dave. I saw it on the news right after it happened. I didn't realize there was more damage in E.A.

This was another example of me turning to Twitter for the real news and not looking at mainstream news until the next day. I used Tweetscan to search for words like dome (GA dome), ATL, tornado, and hail to find out what was going on.

Amazing how much of the story I got 140 characters (or less) at a time.

Of course, I'm also glad to finally get the whole story and learn that you really really really are okay.

I was sitting in Incheon Airport in South Korea getting ready to board my flight to Atlanta and some folks started talking about the tornado, but details were still scarce.

Looking at your pictures last night I was reminded of the triple-hurricane-fun we had in Florida a few years back. In Charlie we lost a good portion of our roof and had some downed trees. Driving around the area the next morning it looked just like your pictures...however, you find that pictures don't really do it justice.

Seeing your line about Twitter, I wonder what that summer would have been like with Twitter? However, most of the cell-phone service was down in our area, only GSM-based phones worked.

From your blog posts and previous conversations, I know that you have a good network of friends in the community, but it's always interesting how an event like this brings a community closer together.
